I made the trip to The Real Thing sub shop on York Road Wednesday and came away with a new idea that I don’t think I’ve seen anywhere else before.
Owner Harcharan Marwah, who goes simply by Tony, came up with the idea to only offer delivery service during peak hours. He, like many other restaurant owners, is suffering from the poor economic times and is looking for any way to cut costs.
As he cooked me his famed chicken cheesesteak, Tony said that it had been a tough summer, but with school back in session he has noticed a spike in his sales. He prefers not to advertise on campus, however, and believes news of his delicious subs will spread on its own.
“Word of mouth is the best, I would say,” said Tony. “Whatever people like, they’ll come back.”
